What You'll Learn Each Month

1

Financial Statement Foundations

We start with balance sheets and cash flow statements. You'll learn to spot red flags that indicate cash flow problems before they become critical. By week four, you'll be analyzing real companies and identifying warning signs that many investors miss.

2

Liquidity Analysis Mastery

Current ratios are just the beginning. We'll show you how to calculate and interpret working capital trends, quick ratios, and cash conversion cycles. You'll practice with companies from mining to retail, seeing how liquidity needs vary by industry.

3

Solvency and Debt Assessment

Learn to evaluate long-term financial health through debt-to-equity ratios, interest coverage, and debt service capabilities. We'll examine case studies of companies that looked stable but ran into trouble, plus those that successfully managed high debt loads.

4

Industry-Specific Analysis

Different sectors have different financial patterns. Mining companies, tech startups, and established retailers all require tailored approaches. You'll build a toolkit of analytical methods that work across various Australian industries.

Lead Financial Analysis Instructor

After twelve years analyzing credit risk for major Australian banks, I've seen thousands of financial statements. The patterns become clear once you know what to look for. I started teaching because I wanted to share the practical shortcuts and warning signs that you only learn from real experience. My students often tell me that the case studies we work through remind them of situations they encounter in their own jobs – that's exactly the point. We focus on the analysis techniques that actually matter in Australian business contexts.

Learn Through Real Business Scenarios

Weekly Case Study Sessions

Every Tuesday evening, we analyze a different company's financial situation. You'll work in small groups to identify problems, calculate key ratios, and present your findings. Recent cases included a Brisbane construction company facing cash flow issues and a Perth mining startup evaluating expansion financing.

Software Training Included

We'll teach you to build analysis models in Excel that you can use immediately in your current role. Plus, you'll get familiar with professional tools like Capital IQ and Morningstar Direct through our lab sessions.

Industry Guest Speakers

Each month, we bring in practicing analysts from investment firms, banks, and accounting practices. They share current market insights and often discuss specific challenges they're working on right now.

What I appreciated most was learning to see patterns in financial data that indicate trouble before it shows up in the headlines. The case studies were challenging but directly relevant to the kinds of analysis I do every day.
